ஒரு கிராமத்தில் தன் வயதான தந்தையுடன் ஒருவன் வாழ்ந்து வந்தான். வயதான தன் தந்தையைத் தெருத்திண்ணையில் உட்காரவைத்து, ஒரு சட்டியைக் கொடுத்து, நாள்தோறும் அதில் சோறு போட்டுவைத்து, அவர் உண்ணும்படிச் செய்யத் தன் மனைவியிடம் சொல்லிவைத்திருந்தான். பல நாட்கள் இந்தத் தொண்டு நடந்துவந்தது.
ஒருநாள் சோறு போடப் போகும்போது, வயதானவரிடம் அச்சட்டி இல்லை. இச்செய்தியைக் கணவனிடம் சொல்லுகிறாள் மனைவி. சட்டி எங்கே என்று கேட்டு, அவரைத் திட்டி அடிக்கவும் கை ஓங்குகிறான் அவரது மகன். அப்போது அவன் பிள்ளை ஒடி வந்து, அப்பா, நான் தான் அந்தச் சட்டியை எடுத்து ஒளித்து வைத்திருக்கிறேன் என்று சொன்னான்.
சிறுவனின் தந்தை ஏன்? என்று கேட்டதற்கு, சிறுவன், உங்களை இம்மாதிரித் திண்ணையில் உட்கார வைத்துச் சோறு போட எனக்கு ஒரு சட்டி வேண்டாமா? ‘அதற்காக எடுத்துப் பாதுகாப்பாக வைத்திருக்கிறேன்” என்றான். மகனுடைய சொல்லைக் கேட்டு, ‘தனக்கும் இப்படி நேரிடுமோ” என்று தந்தை பயந்து விட்டார்.
தன் தந்தைக்குத் தான் செய்யும் கொடுமைகளையே தன் மகன் தனக்கும் செய்வான் என்று அஞ்சித் அவன் திருந்தினான்.
நீதி : நம் மூப்பர்களை நாம் மரியாதையுடன் நடத்த வேண்டும்.
Respect.
A man lived with his elderly father in a village. The old man had made his father sit on the street, gave him a pan, put rice in it daily, and told his wife to make him eat. The charity went on for several days.
One day when he was going to put rice, the old man had no pan with him. The wife tells her husband the news. His son raises his hand to ask where the pan is and scolds him. Then his son jumped up and said, Dad, I′m the one who takes that pan.
The boy′s father asked why? for that the boy said, I don′t have a pan to make you sit on the street like this? I take this and keep it safe for you dad. Hearing his son′s words, the father was afraid that this would happen to him.
He feared that his son would do the same to him as he had done to his father and he changed himself.
Moral: We must treat our elders with respect.
